Ringo collapses, suffering from tonsillitis and pharyngitis. A local doctor is summoned. Ringo is taken to the private patients’ wing of the University College Hospital, London. Brian and George Martin come up with Jimmy Nicol as Ringo’s replacement.
Studio 2. 3.00-4.00pm. Rehearsal: ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’; ‘She Loves You’; ‘I Saw Her Standing There’; ‘This Boy’; ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’; ‘Long Tall Sally’. Rehearsal with Jimmy Nicol.
Brian is the subject of the 1st programme in a new Redifussion (ITV) series, ‘Celebrity Game’.

Mono mixing: ‘Laxton’s Superb’ (also ‘I Don’t Know’, both working titles of ‘I Want To Tell You’) (remixes 1-4, from take 4); ‘Yellow Submarine’ (remixes 1-5, from take 5). ‘Laxton’s Superb’ changes name to ‘I Don’t Know’ during the session. For the first time, bass is separately overdubbed in a Beatles session (‘I Want To Tell You’). It is discarded Ringo’s spoken intro for ‘Yellow Submarine’.
Date of end of recording contract with EMI Records.

John, Yoko and Kyoko leave Canada.
1980
In an act of protest over the firing by the BBC of five of their own musicians, Paul requests that his interview for tonight's edition of BBC2's "The Old Grey Whistle Test" be pulled from the program. The Musicians Union forces the postponement of the show, as well as "Top Of The Pops" for June 5.
1983
Abbey Road Studios announces that it will open its doors to the general public for the first time this summer.
1984
The "Art Of The Beatles" Exhibition, portraying 30 years of the group in the form of cartoons, paintings, photographs, album covers, lithographs and sculptures, continues.
In the US, the world premiere of "Milk And Honey" is shown on MTV. Included are promo videos for "Borrowed Time"; "Grow Old With Me"; "Nobody Told Me" and "I'm Stepping Out". Also featured are interviews with Yoko and Sean.

Cynthia Lennon is a guest on the ITV chat show "Hindsight".
1987

In Cologne, West Germany, the "Art Of The Beatles" exhibition is showcased during the "Liverpool On The Rhine" festival

Paul's art exhibition at the Kunstforum Lyz in Hamburg with 75 of his 500 private paintings.
