American DJ Murry The K dies. Murray is thought to be the first person to play a Beatles record on radio in America. During the early days of Beatlemania, he frequently referred to himself as "the Fifth Beatle". He was 60.

At the British Rock and Pop Awards in London, Paul's Pipes Of Peace film receives the Best Video award for 1983.
1990
Paul receives the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards show.
1992
Paul hosts a fund-raising lunch for top music executives to help raise the amount needed to open LIPA (Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts).
