Sir George Martin's manuscript score for Sir Elton John's "Candle In The Wind '97" is auctioned at Sotheby's in London, with proceeds earmarked for three music-related charities, including the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre and the British Record Industry Trust.

Producer, arranger and keyboardist Tommy Eyre dies of cancer. He was 51. Worked with George Harrison, Wham! Dusty Springfield, and BB King. Played and arranged Joe Cocker's hit "With A Little Help From My Friends" and Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street".
