Knight was defending his daughter during a domestic disturbance, when he was stabbed by her boyfriend, 26 year old Donald Alan Fair. Knight began his music career by leading a Michigan band called Terry Knight and the Pack, who scored a Billboard top 50 hit with ‘I, Who Have Nothing’.
2008, US drummer and singer Jimmy Carl Black died. Was a member of The Keys, The Soul Giants, The Mothers Of Invention and Jimmy Carl Black And The Mannish Boys. Also worked with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Joe Cocker, Grateful Dead and The Turtles.

1894: Billboard Advertising, a trade publication dealing with all manner of billboard advertising and selling for a dime, begins publication. Within a few years, it will begin focusing on the entertainment shows advertised by billboards, and by the 1930s Billboard, as it has come to be known, is covering radio and sales of the new medium, juke box records.

1955: Macon, GA R&B favorites The Famous Flames enter local radio station WIBB to record a demo of their first song, "Please, Please, Please." The primitive scorcher, featuring lead singer James Brown pleading into a single microphone while standing on a Coca-Cola carton, would be rejected by several record labels before finally being picked up by Federal Records in Cincinnati.

1956, Elvis Presley bought a new Harley Davidson motorbike, Presley spent the day riding round Memphis on his new bike with actress Natalie Wood.

1959: Ray Charles leaves his old label, Atlantic, for ABC-Paramount Records.

1959: Elvis Presley's current stint in the Army means that for the first time in nearly five years, no Elvis single resides on the Billboard charts.

1962 – No. 1 Chart Toppers Pop Hit: “He’s a Rebel,” The Crystals. The actual singers on the record aren’t the Crystals, but a trio of backing singers known as the Blossoms.

1962 – Having just released their first single in England, the Beatles return to their Star-Club stomping grounds in Hamburg for a two-week residency. In 1977, a bootleg of their concerts there was released as Live! At the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany 1962.

1963: The Beatles begin their first headlining UK tour with two shows at the Odeon in Gloucestershire, England, earning 300 pounds a night. Opening acts include The Rhythm and Blues Quartet, The Vernons Girls, Frank Berry, The Brook Brothers, Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers, and The Kestrels. The set list: "I Saw Her Standing There," "From Me To You," "All My Loving," "You Really Got A Hold On Me," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Boys," "Till There Was You," "She Loves You," "Money," and "Twist And Shout." The full scream of Beatlemania makes it impossible to hear the music, but that doesn't stop girls from camping out for two days in advance for tickets.

1964: Yet another British Invasion band makes its US television debut on CBS' Ed Sullivan Show: The Dave Clark Five, whose clean-cut image visibly relieves the host, who is still suffering from the Stones riot of a few days' earlier. After the band plays "Glad All Over," Ed goes out of his way to tag them as "nice, neat boys."

1964: The Beach Boys begin their first UK tour in London.

1965: The Rolling Stones' concert in Rochester, NY, ends abruptly when 3,000 rabid fans storm the stage after just seven minutes. After three more attempts to resume the show, it's canceled by police, with only six songs having been played.
1966, The Doors played the first night of a month long residency at the Ondine Discotheque, Midtown Manhattan, New York City.
1970: ABBA, then known as the Festfolk Quartet, play their first-ever concert at a Gothenburg, Sweden restaurant.

1975: Due to lead singer Karen Carpenter's struggle with anorexia, the Carpenters are forced to cancel their upcoming European tour.
1979, Blue Oyster Cult kicked off an 11-date UK tour at Brighton Centre. Tickets £4.00.

1979: Bob Dylan debuts the songs from his new album, a Christian polemic called Slow Train Coming, on the first night of his new tour in San Francisco, CA. A shocked audience boos the new material throughout the set.
1980 Graham Bonnet quits Rainbow
1986 – Whilst filming the risible Hearts of Fire in Canada, Bob Dylan performs with the Paul James Band in a bar in Markham, Ontario.

1991: After having a cancerous lung removed, former Temptation Eddie Kendricks is released from an Atlanta hospital.

1994 – Megadeth release Youthanasia, filled with such optimistic thrash gems as “Addicted to Chaos.” The album peaks at No. 4 in the Billboard charts.

2004 – EMI pays tribute to Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, who celebrates 50 years recording for the company. In a rare appearance at a private party at EMI’s London headquarters, Rostropovich is presented with a golden Neumann microphone and a plaque commemorating the 100 recordings he has made with the company since 1954
2004, A man who allegedly stalked Australian pop star Natalie Imbruglia, was deemed too mentally ill to be interviewed by police. The 44-year-old fan was arrested after turning up on the doorstep of the singer's £2m home in Berkshire after flying to London from Australia.
2006 – Grocery clerk Paul McPike sues Green Day, alleging he wrote their hit “American Idiot” way back in 1992. “It was just disbelief every time I heard it on the radio,” says McPike. A feeling very similar to what you’re experiencing reading this.
2006 – Elton John begs his record label to drop him, claiming they barely promoted new album The Captain & The Kid. “F*ck Universal,” he tells the audience at a New York show. “Please drop me. I’m 58 and I don’t care anymore.”
2006 – Apple Computer launches a new mini-store within the U.S. version of the iTunes Music Store dedicated to Latin music and entertainment. iTunes Latino features top Latin music, music videos, television shows, audiobooks and podcasts.

1963 «I Wanna Be Your Man». 1963 «I Wanna Be Your Man».

Released as their second single on 1 November 1963, the Stones' version was an early hit, peaking at no. 12 on the British chart. Their rendition is a frenetic electric rock/blues song featuring Brian Jones' distinctive slide guitar and Bill Wyman's driving bass playing. It is one of the few Rolling Stones songs featuring backing vocals by Jones. In the US, the song was released on 6 March 1964 as the B-side to "Not Fade Away".
"I Wanna Be Your Man" is a Lennon/McCartney-penned song that was recorded separately by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones' version was released a few weeks earlier. The song was primarily written by Paul McCartney, and finished by Lennon and McCartney in the corner of a room while Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were talking

1958, Tommy Edwards was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'It's All In The Game.' Written by Charles Dawes, later Vice President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge. It is the only No.1 pop single to have been co-written by a US Vice President.

2004, Guitarist Eric Clapton collected his CBE from Buckingham Palace for his services to music.

2007, Led Zeppelin's eagerly-awaited reunion concert in London was postponed for two weeks after guitarist
Jimmy Page broke his pinky finger. The tribute concert in honour of late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun scheduled for 26 November would now take place on 10 December. More than a million fans applied for the 20,000 tickets available, which cost £125 each. Profits from the show would go towards scholarships in Ertegun's name in the UK, USA and the country of his birth Turkey.

2007, Ozzy Osbourne claimed his reputation had been tarnished after a party supposedly involving him was organised by US police officers to round up missing criminal suspects. Over 500 people in North Dakota with outstanding arrest warrants were sent invitations and more than 30 suspects turned up. Osbourne said it was "insulting" that his name had been used but police argued it was a "creative" way to fight crime. Ozzy had been selected because he was due to play a gig in a nearby arena, which was used to explain why he would supposedly have attending the party.

1957: CBS-TV's Ed Sullivan Show accidentally cuts off Sam Cooke mid-song when "You Send Me" isn't given enough time at the end of tonight's show. Sullivan invites the singer back the next month to make up for it.

1957: Elvis Presley places a record eight singles on UK Top 30 chart: 'Party' (3), 'Teddy Bear' (11), 'All Shook Up' (17), 'Got a Lot of Livin' to Do' (19), 'Trying to Get to You' (21), 'Loving You' (24), 'Paralyzed' (26) and 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy' (30)

1957: Sun Records released 'Great Balls Of Fire', by Jerry Lee Lewis. The single went on to sell over five million copies worldwide, a No.1 in the UK & No.2 in the US.

1958: PFC Elvis Presley goes on maneuvers for the first time, with the 32nd Tank regiment near the border of Germany and Czechoslovakia.

1960: Elvis Presley had his fifth UK No.1 single with 'It's Now Or Never', it stayed at No.1 for eight weeks. The song which was based on the Italian song, 'O Sole Mio', gave Presley his first post-army No.1.

1962: Billboard magazine drops the "Western" from its "Country and Western" chart title.

1964: Mayor Ralph Locker of Cleveland, OH, bans the Rolling Stones from playing the city ever again after a teenager falls from a balcony during the group's concert. Locker is quoted as commenting, "Such groups do not add to the community's culture or entertainment."

1967: The Beatles complete filming on their ill-fated movie Magical Mystery Tour.

1972: Carly Simon and James Taylor, icons of the Seventies singer-songwriter movement and the highest-paid couple in entertainment, are married at Simon's apartment in Manhattan. Later, at a celebratory concert at Radio City Music Hall, Taylor quips: "I don't know whether to be more nervous about the concert or the marriage." The union lasts eleven years.

1973: Neil Young supported by The Eagles appeared at the Palace Theatre, Manchester, England.

1977: A Santa Monica (Calif.) Superior Court orders Bob Dylan to return his children to his estranged wife, Sara. He had been granted temporary custody while his ex- set up house in Hawaii.

1977: Elton John announces his retirement during a concert at London's Empire Pool. He would return to the music business within a year and a half.

1978: The Cars arrive in England to begin a mini-tour promoting their debut single, “Just What I Needed.”

1979: One hit wonder M went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Pop Muzik'. M was Robin Scott who scored one other UK top 40 hit, 'Pop Muzik' made No.2 in the UK.

1979: The Eagles started a nine-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with 'The Long Run', the group's fourth US No.1 album.

1983: RCA records signed Latin teen sensations Menudo for $30m. The line up of five young boys all had to sign a contract agreeing to leave the group when they reached 16, (when too old for the group). Ricky Martin was once a member.

1984: Billy Ocean started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Caribbean Queen'. The song was originally called 'European Queen'.

1984: Paul McCartney went to No.1 on the UK album chart with the film soundtrack to 'Give My Regards To Broad Street', featuring the UK No.2 single 'No More Lonely Nights.'

1987: David Bowie played the first of eight sold out nights at The Entertainment Centre, Sydney, Australia. The shows were part of the 1987-date Glass Spider world tour.

1988: Run-DMC, Public Enemy and Derek B. all appeared at the Apollo Manchester, England.

1990: After being featured prominently in the smash hit film Ghost, the Righteous Brothers' version of "Unchained Melody" returns to the top of the UK charts after 25 years.

1991: Legendary rock promoter Bill Graham's funeral in San Francisco is attended by over 300,000 people, though the many musical acts that perform -- the Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills, Nash and Young, Santana, and Joan Baez -- may have helped the turnout.

1992: The Grateful Dead announce they are discontinuing their tradition of playing a San Francisco concert on New Year’s Eve.

1995: Hootie and the Blowfish reach an out-of-court settlement with Bob Dylan for an undisclosed amount after courts rule the adult alternative powerhouse of a group lifted lyrics from Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue" for their recent hit "Only Wanna Be With You."

1997: John Denver’s last recording, “The Unplugged Collection,” is released in the U.K. The album features versions of such well-known Denver compositions as “Annie’s Song,” Rocky Mountain High, and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

1997: Metallica came to a out of court agreement with a fan who claimed he lost his sense of smell after being dropped on his head by fans at one of their shows four years earlier.

1997: In Santa Monica, CA, Billy Preston is sentenced to three years in prison for cocaine possession and violating parole.

1999: Perry Farrell holds an album release party featuring go-go dancers, projections, and a battery of drummers. Alas, his efforts were premature. The album Song Yet to Be Sung was not released until 2001.

2000: EMI Records announced they had dropped Simple Minds. The Scottish band had sold over 30m albums during the 1980's.

2005: With two trophies apiece, Coldplay and Green Day are the big winners at the 12th MTV Europe Music Awards, held at the Atlantic Pavilion in Lisbon.

2006: Donny Osmond guest stars on ABC's soap opera All My Children.

2006: Gospel singer Helen Berhane is released after spending two years in a metal shipping container. Berhane was arrested and put into detention in Eritrea for belonging to the banned Rema Church.
Helen Berhane (born c. 1975) is a Christian Gospel singer who was a prisoner in Eritrea.

Не использовать единственную льготу,которая мне осталась (как ветерану военной службы могу раз год бесплатно вдвоём с женой слетать к месту отпуска и обратно)-это очень трудно!Так что на работе руководство(в лице сына-директора нашей фирмы!) проявило заботу,обеспечило деньгами и предоставило нам возможность 9 дней провести у тёплого -тёплого моря!Платили только за отель,его совместно выбрали и не ошиблись -отпуск удался!
Чтобы из темы очень не уходить, дам отпускное фото из Hard Rock Cafe Шарм-эль-Шейха,куда я попал как раз в ночь празднования праздника Helloween.Во всех городах,где я бываю,стараюсь побывать в этих заведениях,чтобы немного приблизиться к истории рок-музыки...
