Но это неправильно сказать, что это не рок. Поп-музыка включает в себя элементы разных стилей, В ТОМ ЧИСЛЕ и рока.

1957: After his concert at Los Angeles' Pan Pacific Auditorium, Elvis Presley meets TV star -- and, thanks to Elvis' inspiration, recording artist -- Rick Nelson for the first time. "Man, I just love your new record," says Elvis, referring to "Be-Bop Baby." The King also mentions that he's a fan of Rick's Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet show and gives the young singer some advice on touring.

1958: While still stationed in Germany with the US Army, Private First Class Elvis Presley takes in a Bill Haley show for the troops at Stuttgart.

1963 – The Hollies begin recording sessions for their first album.

1967 – During an American promotional tour, Pink Floyd appears on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. They lip-sync their single “See Emily Play,” but singer Syd Barrett keeps his mouth shut throughout the “performance.”

1969: New York underground newspaper Rat becomes the first publication to compile the various rumored "clues" to the "Paul Is Dead" phenomenon.

1976 – Elvis Presley’s final studio recording session is held at his Graceland mansion.

1983 – Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” marks its 491st week on the Billboard album chart, surpassing the previous record holder, “Johnny’s Greatest Hits” by Johnny Mathis. When it finally fell off of list in October
1988, “Dark Side” had set a record of 741 weeks on the chart.

1987: Rolling Stones guitarist and sometime painter Ron Wood gets his first public presentation, Decades, in London, featuring mostly portraits of Wood's famous friends over the past two decades.

1990: The inductees for the sixth annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are announced, a list which includes Wilson Pickett, Ike and Tina Turner, The Byrds, The Impressions, LaVern Baker, Jimmy Reed, and John Lee Hooker.

1995: Paul Anka guest stars on tonight's "Treehouse of Horror VI" episode of Fox-TV's The Simpsons.

1996 – A Pasadena judge drops drug possession charges against Stone Temple Pilots’ singer Scott Weiland, saying that the singer had made definite progress in rehab.

1998 – Singer/guitarist Brian Setzer files suit against Ken Kinnally, a former member of Setzer’s pre-Stray Cats group the Bloodless Pharaohs. Setzer alleges that, without his knowledge or consent, Kinnally licensed 1978 studio tracks and 1979 live recordings to Collectibles Records, which issued an album titled “Brian Setzer & the Bloodless Pharaohs.”

1998 – Three ex-members of the San Francisco punk band the Dead Kennedys sue former lead singer Jello Biafra (Eric Reed Boucher), claiming he diverted money owed to his bandmates for his own use. The action is filed by East Bay Ray (Ray Pepperell), Klaus Flouride (Geoffrey Lyall), and D.H. Peligro (Darren Henley). The suit goes to trial in April 2000.

1999 – David Lee Roth files suit against Edmund Anderson, the operator of a Web site that sells Roth collectibles, charging that Anderson breached his contract with the singer.

1999 – The surviving members of The Who, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and John Entwistle, reunited for the first time in two years for a concert at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to launch Pixelon, a new internet video company.

2002: Palm Springs, CA, dedicates a portion of its airport as the Sonny Bono Memorial Concourse, in honor of the famous singer who also served as the town's mayor in the late Eighties.

2003 – Research by Professor James Kellaris of the University of Cincinnati College of Business Administration, found that songs get stuck in our heads because they create a ‘brain itch’ that can only be scratched by repeating a tune over and over. Songs such as the Village People’s “YMCA” and the Baha Men’s “Who Let The Dogs Out”, owe their success to their ability to create a ‘cognitive itch’.

2003: A study by the Neilsen ratings people finds that a full third the sales of Beatles 1 were to new fans between the ages of 19 and 24, skewing the fan base even younger than it had been previously.

2005: The wax figures of the younger Beatles used in the cover of the band's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album are auctioned off for 81,500 pounds in London after being discovered languishing in the backroom of Madame Tussauds' famous wax museum.

2009 - Forbes Magazine reported that Michael Jackson had earned about 72 million dollars since his death on June 6th. That was good enough for third place on their list of dead celebrities making the most money. Fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent came in first at $350 million, songwriters Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein were second with $235 million and Elvis Presley was fourth, earning $55 million.

2003 – Steve O’Rourke, manager of Pink Floyd since 1968. He is 63. His funeral service was held on 14 November 2003 at Chichester Cathedral in Sussex, England, where, as a tribute, Pink Floyd members David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason performed together in public for the first time since October 1994. They played "Fat Old Sun" and "The Great Gig in the Sky", with Dick Parry playing the saxophone as he followed the coffin. David Gilmour's 2006 solo album On an Island was dedicated to O'Rourke's memory (as well as memories of tour manager Tony Howard and arranger/orchestrator Michael Kamen). Nick Mason's book Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd was also dedicated to O'Rourke.

2007: Robert Goulet, 73. was a Canadian American entertainer as a singer and actor. He played the role of Lancelot in the Broadway musical Camelot of 1960.

Gavin Rossdale сегодня празднует 45! Вокалист и гитарист группы BUSH (Куст по-нашему, если не пользоваться сленговым словарём ха-ха). Были вполне годной граджевой группой, если бы не одно НО - они были островитяне. А на острове, как мы с вами знаем, правили OASIS энд компани. Поэтому кучкисты (или кустисты) подались в США, и правильно сделали - там всё пошло как надо! Именинник сейчас муж Гвен Стефани, которая, без сомнений, не говорит (Don't Speak No Doubt)

2005 – John “Beatz” Holohan, drummer for Victory Records outfit Bayside, dies after an auto accident in Cheyenne, WY. He is 31. Several other members of the band and crew were also hospitalized after their tour van hits a patch of ice on the highway and flips over.
2005 – Skitch Henderson, the Grammy-winning conductor who lent his musical expertise to Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby before founding the New York Pops and becoming the first “Tonight Show” bandleader, dies. He is 87.

1952: When his original guitarist has a stroke just before a New Year's Eve gig, popular St. Louis boogie-woogie pianist Johnnie Johnson hires for his group The Sir John's Trio a 26-year old hairdresser named Chuck Berry.

1956 Tommy Steele takes UK rock and roll into chart for the first time with 'Rock with the Cavemen'

1959 Bobby Rydell scores first his as 'We Got Love' enters US chart

1963: The Beatles return from a tour of Sweden to find 50,000 screaming fans waiting for them at London's Heathrow Airport, the surest proof yet that Beatlemania is a national phenomenon. Waiting at the airport is American TV host Ed Sullivan, who notices the furor. "Who are those guys?" he asks a bystander, who tells him they are "England's foremost singing group." Having never heard them, Sullivan nevertheless immediately contacts manager Brian Epstein to book the band for three appearances on his CBS show early in 1964.

1964: Ray Charles is arrested at Boston's Logan Airport for possession of heroin, his third drug since 1958. The singer is ordered to rehab in order to avoid jail time.

1964: For the first time since January 1964, the Beatles do not have a song currently on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. No less than 14 singles hit the charts in the previous ten months.

1964: Joan Baez sings three songs with Bob Dylan at tonight's concert in New York: "Mama, You Been On My Mind," "With God On Our Side," and "It Ain't Me, Babe."

1964 – Bob Dylan performs a Halloween concert at New York’s Philharmonic Hall. CBS is recording the show for a possible live album. Dylan shows off a new composition called “Advice to Geraldine on Her Miscellaneous Birthday.”

1965: Lead singer Wayne Fontana leaves his group, The Mindbenders.

1967: The Stooges make their live debut at a Detroit, MI, Halloween party.

1967 – Having spent a night at Wormwood Scrubs Prison, Rolling Stone Brian Jones is ordered to spend nine months in jail after pleading guilty to marijuana possession. He appeals the judge’s decision and is released on bail.

1968 – Linda Eastman arrives in England to take up living with Paul McCartney.

1970 – Michelle Phillips marries actor Dennis Hopper. The marriage lasts eight days.

1974 – Led Zeppelin officially launches their Swan Song label with a party at England’s Chislehurst Caves. Attendees include the Pretty Things – who are signed to Swan Song – Bill Wyman, and Groucho Marx. In typical Zep style, the caves are lined with naked women. Cute.

1975 – The Marshall Tucker Band performs at a campaign fund-raiser for presidential candidate Jimmy Carter.

1976: Elvis Presley makes his last recording, singing Jim Reeves' "He'll Have To Go" over a pre-recorded backing track in the Jungle Room of his Graceland home.

1992 – Tonight on ABC, stay-at-home trick-or-treaters can watch the Halloween Jam at Universal Studios, featuring AC/DC, the Black Crowes, Ozzy Osbourne, and Slaughter, En Vogue… what… ok… back to OZZY.
You have to have OZZY at a Halloween gig. Awesome!

1992 Pearl Jam sets a first week sales record by selling 950,000 copies of the "Vs." album.

1993 – Rapper Tupac Shakur is arrested and charged with shooting two off-duty police officers in Atlanta. Police said the 22-year-old rapper got into an argument with the two police officers from suburban Atlanta. They said one of the officers pulled a gun and Shakur then fired at the officers.

1995: James Brown is charged with assault at his home in Aiken, SC, after allegedly striking his wife Adrienne with a mirror.

1997 – Extensive counterfeiting haunts Jane’s Addiction’s Halloween night reunion concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Hundreds of fans – many holding valid tickets – are turned away from the show. More than 200 counterfeit tickets are confiscated. Refunds are given to compensate valid ticket holders who are turned away.

1998 – Kiss kicks off its Psycho-Circus tour with a Halloween extravaganza in Los Angeles that dazzles thousands of fans, many of whom arrive in costumes. Appropriately enough, the Smashing Pumpkins opens the show.

2000 – Travis is named the best act in the world at the Q Awards 2000, presented in London. Badly Drawn Boy wins for best new act; Coldplay’s “Parachutes” is named best album. The awards are voted on by readers of Q Magazine and via a telephone system opereated by the event’s sponsor.

2000: Napster announces a deal with entertainment giant BMG to make its illegal file-sharing software into a paid subscription service.

2003 – On the final night of her Farewell tour, Cher is named the year’s biggest touring female by Billboard. She grossed $145 million and drew 2.2 million fans to over 200 concerts.

2003 – The Flaming Lips are forced to cut short a concert in Birmingham, England, after one of their dancing pandas collapses onstage.

2003 – Jane’s Addiction play a surprise “flash mob” gig outside London’s Brixton Academy immediately after their Halloween show there. Fans were invited to the karaoke-styled set via text message.

2005: The Isley Brothers' Ron Isley is sentenced to 26 years in federal prison on tax evasion charges.

2005: The white suit John Lennon wore on the cover of the Beatles' Abbey Road sells at a Las Vegas Amnesty International charity auction for $118,000.

2007: Elvis Presley tops the annual Forbes magazine list of most profitable dead celebrities, his estate having taken in $49 million over the past year. John Lennon makes the #2 spot; George Harrison, James Brown, and Bob Marley also make the list.

2008 - A couple who admitted supplying drugs including cocaine and ecstasy to singer Amy Winehouse were warned they faced a jail term as they appeared in Snaresbrook Crown Court, England. The charges related to video footage which appeared to show Winehouse smoking a crack pipe. The singer was arrested and questioned over the images but she was not charged.
