In 1995 I was working as a photographer at the last Grand Prix that was held in Adelaide.
I was informed by a friend that George Harrison was staying at the Hilton Hotel. The hotel lobby was full of Beatles fans, all waiting for George to arrive. I took this photo as he was getting into the lift.

Detail : George's thirteenth solo single. This was the third single to be taken from the "George Harrison" L.P. and was the first picture disc single for George. In 1978 the Swedish Motor Racer, Gunnar Nilsson died of cancer. This single was released by George to assist in raising money for the "Gunnar Nilsson Cancer Fund", unfortunately I doubt this record helped the cause to much extent as it failed to chart.
- The picture disc features the faces of nine legendary Grand Prix racing drivers, firm heroes of George`s in his passion for the sport. From the top, and reading clockwise you can see above, Fangio (Arg) - The oldest ever World Champion at 46 and champ 5 times. He had 24 race wins, amassing 278 points from 1950-1958.
- Jackie Stewart (UK) - World Champion 3 times, 27 race wins, amassing 360 points from 1965-1973.
- Niki Lauda (Aut) - World Champion 3 times, 25 race wins, amassing 420.5 points from 1971-1985.
- Jochen Rindt (Aut) - The only ever posthumous World Champion, in 1970 aged 28. He died one month before the end of the season at Monza during practise.
- Jim Clark (UK) - World Champion 2 times, winner of 25 Grand Prix from 1962-1968.
- Graham Hill (UK) - World Champion 2 times, winner of 14 races, amassing 289 points from 1958-1975 and father of Damon Hill.
- Jody Scheckter (SA) - World Champion in 1979
- Emerson Fittipaldi (Bra) - World Champion 2 times, winner of 14 races, amassing 281 points from 1970-1980.
- Stirling Moss (UK) - 16 race wins from 1955-1961.

Also in the run-out groove we once again see, "STRAWBERRY".

The song was written on 20th November 1977. The racing heard at the start of the song was recorded at the British Grand Prix of 1978 on July 16th.

Несмотря на репутацию буяна и нигилиста, Лауду (трехкратный чемпион Формула 1. прим. - Elicaster) почему-то очень любил вполне романтичный и мирный битл Джордж Харрисон. Музыкант кроме всего прочего гонял на машинах и коллекционировал их. Так что нет ничего странного в том, что во флоте авиакомпании Lauda Air есть пассажирский самолет Boeing 737-8Z9 по имени George Harrison, который сохранил свое название после смены собственника фирмы. А Харрисон в 1977 написал про Лауду песню Faster (диск George Harrison) с финальными строчками "и немногие осмелились осуществить свою мечту быстрее пули".

Niki Lauda (Austria) - трехкратный чемпион Формула 1. В 1976 во время Гран При Германии (или Европы???) попал в ужасную аварию, машина горела. После операции по пересадке кожи и ампутации уха вернулся в гонки и в следующем году завоевал звание чемпиона.

Stewart Mourns George Harrison's Death

Three-time Formula One World Champion Jackie Stewart has paid tribute to ex-Beatle George Harrison, who died on Thursday after losing a long battle against cancer.
The guitarist known as "the quiet Beatle" - a big fan of Formula One racing - died at a friend's home in Los Angeles at the age of 58 on Thursday with his wife Olivia and son Dhani at his side, succumbing to the cancer that overshadowed his last years.
Stewart, whose son Paul and wife Helen suffer from cancer too, was a close friend to the musician.
"It is a sad day," Stewart told Radio Five. "It is always a shame, and is never easy, when the final curtain comes down. George was a remarkable man and, more than anything, was a deep and valued friend. My family was close to him - my sons and wife spent a lot of time close to him at his home - and of course, he loved motorsport.
"I think George understood life, and he understood death. He was a deep man, and looked at things at a different way to most people in this life. More than anything, he will, of course, be remembered for his music, but I will remember him for other reasons."
