On November 5, Chysalis/Capitol delivers three remastered Jethro Tull discs with bonus tracks, though most are previously available. Warchild (1974) has seven bonuses, including an unissued "Warchild Waltz" introductory bit played regularly at concerts; Minstrel in the Gallery (1975) contains five, including live recordings of the title track and "Cold Wind to Valhalla" from BBC radio; Too Old to Rock ’n’ Roll, Too Young to Die (1976) features two additional tracks.

· Big Beat’s Zombies division returns after a couple of years’ absence to
remind you that we are the true, band-approved home of textbook Zombies
reissues - accept no substitute!

· The Decca Stereo Anthology is just that, a loaded, 48-track, 2-CD set
that presents the band’s entire recorded output during their tenure at
Decca 1964-66, outtakes and all, presented in fresh, crisp stereo mixes.

· For those that are unaware, during their lifetime the Zombies and their
producer, Ken Jones, never mixed any of their Decca sides in stereo.
After the band’s demise, a staff producer did some hasty, half-baked
remixes of their hits plus a few album/single tracks: these are the stereo
versions that have subsequently circulated on various reissues over the
years. Several tracks from the Decca period have never ever appeared in
stereo before at all.

· With our acclaimed box set, Zombie Heaven, we presented everything in
the correct mono as originally issued, but the demand from Zombieheads the
world over for a stereo collection has ultimately led to this package.
Rather than merely reproduce those inferior mixes from the 1970s, we have
gone back to the original session tapes and remixed everything in a more
sympathetic fashion, replicating the original mono reverbs and EQ, and
reinstating edits and overdubs wherever possible.

· However, even with today’s computer trickery at our disposal, there was
one overdub from the mono that could not be faked - the additional drum
part on The Zombies’ astounding debut record, She's Not There. So the
Zoms’ incomparable drummer, Hugh Grundy, cheerfully agreed to pop into
Rod Argent’s studio and superimpose drums onto the 4-track session tape
to match his original part, using his original Ludwig snare - the
forty-year-late overdub!

· The remixes were mastered to 24-bit and sound incredible, putting you
right there in the control room at Decca Studio No. 2, West Hampstead:
yet unlike the previous stereos, these new versions remain true to the
intent of the band. Plus there is the bonus of four previously unheard,
work-in-progress backing tracks, and liberal snippets of fascinating and
often hilarious studio chat. All in all, The Decca Stereo Anthology is not
only a treat for fans and collectors, but a great Zombies compilation in
itself, and a timely reminder of their sheer brilliance.

Okay, you have read all the books, heard the music, and listened to the lore and legend of concerts attended by family and friends. Therefore, what else could there be left to see and hear about the legendary rock group of the sixties The Doors? Well, a lot more than you could possibly imagine and more. Thanks to some successful boxed sets released over the last several years the group is enjoying a full blown resurgence prompting them to launch a website and start pumping out previously unreleased live recordings one after the other. I smell reunion around the corner. Well, as a matter of fact they may be getting together again to record or play live (check the band website for news), unfortunately without their front man Jim Morrison. It is too bad that the excesses of the music business and all its trappings pushed him into a life of misery with alcohol and drugs, then eventually his demise.

"Soundstage Performances" is digital time machine. This enlightening and absorbing DVD is all about the sixties, which chronicles a time when people wore flowers in their hair, believed in free love and protested against the Vietnam War. Music was the driving force behind young people in America and certain groups shined brightly.

This is eye opening and entertaining DVD gives you a glimpse of the past and a candid look at today by the surviving members of the band Robbie Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore. They discus in a matter-of-fact way their recollections of that time when they made all of their music and the events that surrounded them. Jim Morrison's antics onstage created many problems for the group and their ability to play live. After the famous dawning of Jim's genitals at a Florida concert, the only place the band could play live was in California. After listening to the input on that situation from all the group members, it is revealed that Jim never did any of that onstage, he threatened to do so and went through all the motions, as the truth is told today… the press and authorities fabricated it all. Robbie mentions that at the concert that night the cops were chatting and having beers with them then they turned around and arrested Jim. It sounds to me like a conspiracy against the group because of their anti-war stance and being generally Un-American by not supporting the politics and bullshit that goes along with the makings of a war.

Thank god, the entire "Soft Parade" album was committed to celluloid so we could see it on this DVD. Even though the studio would not permit an audience at the taping because of the pending court case, and what allegedly happened on stage, the group jumped at the chance to promote their new album. At that time, Morrison had put on a few pounds and grown a beard to project a new persona, as if to hide the real Jim that was responsible for the antics at the infamous concert. The performance was prior to the court case so he was distracted and nervous about all of that according to the rest of the band. Regardless his performance was exemplary and the band sounded great.

Including all of the wonderful footage of the group, the interviews with the band are what make this so interesting. The music is hypnotic as it always was, what helps to put together all the pieces of the Doors puzzle is listening to them talk about the songs and how they were created and what was happening with the group at the time. I now have a much better understanding of the group's concepts and ideas, more specifically, what was behind the music, thanks to this DVD. In the "1969 PBS "Critique" w/ The Doors Interview & Panel Discussion" segment I found it interesting how Morrison was talking about how the music made him feel more comfortable and secure to be the poet he was and how he needed to work on reciting poetry and the spoken word without music, which he eventually did before he died. The group looked at him as the front man and as a sociopolitical figurehead that sang about how they all felt about life and where they lived, and so did everyone that bought their music, that is what pissed off the status quo so much.

I spent a week taking in bits and pieces of this documentary and I would not only highly recommend that you get this outstanding DVD, then you should carefully pay attention and take your time absorbing and processing all of it. You can read between the lines or music as it were, and understand more than any book or TV show could ever hope to accomplish by watching this DVD. This is the genesis of a group found nestled in the music and words of the people that created it; it simply does not get more concentrated than that.

DISC 1: Tracks 1-9: the album from the "original master tapes' for the first time which have now been located by Jon Astley.
Tracks 10-15: Six cuts from the Record Plant sessions, all in "extended form": Baby Don't You Do It, Getting In Tune, Pure & Easy, Love Aint For Keeping, Behind Blue Eyes & Wont Get Fooled Again.....The 3 songs that have been issued before were edited down.

DISC 2: Fourteen songs from the Young Vic recorded April 26, 1971:Love Aint For Keeping, Pure & Easy, Young Man Blues, Time Is Passing, Behind Blue Eyes, I Don't Even Know Myself, Too Much Of Anything, Getting In Tune, Bargain, Water, My Generation, Road Runner, Naked Eye & Wont Get Fooled Again.

Water & Naked Eye are about 2 mins. & 1 min. longer than the previous versions.

Ice [Magazine] says that the second disc will be the the Vic rehearsals and first disc will be original album and 6 cuts recorded at Record Plant in 1971. Both disc are about 80 min long with improved sound( first time the original master and not first generation or remastered version) is used.

Посмотрел недавно, благодаря Деду, Ed Sullivan's Rock 'N' Roll Classics - nine DVD boxed set и немного разочаровался.
Очень много повторов, причем это ОДНИ И ТЕЖЕ ВЫСТУПЛЕНИЯ.
Мало отражена бит-музыка, зато Supremes и The Temptations огромное количество.

Особо выделил бы Dino, Desi & Billy.

В середине марта (называется 17-е число) Repertoire Records наконец-то выпускает СD-переиздание альбома Alvin Lee & Mylon Lefevre “On The Road To Freedom”, на котором присутствует написанная GH песня “So Sad (No Love Of His Own)”. Как всем без сомнения известно, Харрисон (под псевдонимом Hari Georgeson) принял участие в ее записи, сыграв на гитаре, слайд-гитаре и бас-гитаре. Сингл-версия песни включена на CD в качестве bonus track.

The Beach Boys' Live at Knebworth 1980 performance has been released on CD in the UK on Eagle Records. The album is available in stores and also through online retailers. A U.S. release is set for March 4, under the title Good Timin: Live at Knebworth 1980. The concert is also being released on DVD/VHS. It is already available in the UK and is set for U.S. release on March 25.

Another batch of the Jethro Tull remasters is on the way, all embellished with a smattering of bonus material. Of special interest must come the bonus tagged onto "A Passion Play": a CD-ROM video of weird yet extremely funny "The Story Of The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles", the most pleasant, oustanding for its sense of humor and phonetic excellence, piece on a rather bleak album. As for the whole bunch of the remasters, it's like this:
