New Beatles exhibit opens at Minnesota History Center in St. Paul
The new exhibit "The Beatles! A One-Night Stand in the Heartland" opened Saturday, July 17 at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.
A special event surrounding the exhibit is planned for tonight (Tuesday, July 20) at the History Center, located at 345 W. Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul. It is a FREE event and will feature a tribute band, RetroFit. The band will play from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
More than 40 images showcase the Fab Four, their frenzied fans and the concert that didn't sell out because promoters choose not to advertise fearing unruly crowds. Through the images, exhibit goers will be able to make intimate connections with the Beatles, a band that changed music and popular culture forever.
The images also tell the story of a young boy, Bill Carlson, who at age 17 got the chance of a lifetime to shoot the biggest rock band of all time.
The Fab Four, the Beatles, made an appearance in the Twin Cities in 1965 and met the press. From left, are John Lennon and Paul McCartney (top) and George Harrison and Ringo Starr (bottom).
