Tom_Petty_Live says: I don't really know, it just popped in my head one night. I was looking for a song that sort of tied up the story in the album and brought the characters together. So it just popped into my head and we recorded it the next day.

Tom_Petty_Live says: There must be hundreds, but I'll name you a few. All the artists from the Stacks Record label, Muddy Waters, Wilson Pickett, Chuck Berry, Slim Harpo, all the Motown artists, there are just hundreds of them. There wouldn't even be rock and roll without
Tom_Petty_Live says: black artists. They're the real creators of this music. When I search for creation of music, I'd say 90% of the time it's a black artist.

Tom_Petty_Live says: I wanted the album to have a villain, the first thought I had when thinking of a villain was a music villain mogul that was only driven by money.

Tom_Petty_Live says: There are no definite plans, it's just something I do from time to time and it's usually because a friend asks me. I don't have any aspirations of going into that as a career.

Tom_Petty_Live says: I know some of it. We'll be doing "Tax Man," "Isn't it a Pity," and "I Need You." And possibly some Traveling Wilburys songs.

Tom_Petty_Live says: Wow. I don't really know which one would be our signature tune, it would depend on who you talk to or what generation they were from. In the 70's I think people identifited with "American Girl," "Refugee." And later "Free Falling." I don't know why they

Tom_Petty_Live says: We're lucky in that, we had a lot of hits in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

Tom_Petty_Live says: The script was written so I tried to stay pretty close to the script, but it was a lot of fun.

Tom_Petty_Live says: Well yeah, it was certainly a humor oriented song.

Tom_Petty_Live says: There probably is but I really enjoy working with The Heartbreakers more than anything. So those thoughts just don't cross my mind. When I work with other artists, it's usually coincedence.

Tom_Petty_Live says: Again, I don't know, inspiration is all around you. Everywhere you look there's inspiration.

Tom_Petty_Live says: The craziest thing... there have been quite a lot of them. The craziest thing I can remember was a girl bribed room service and put on a uniform and brought my food to my room. When she got there she revealed that she was a fan.

Tom_Petty_Live says: Yeah, well every artist has someone who is saying, "You've got to have something to fall back on." I just wasn't planning on doing any falling back. In this business if you have any doubts whether you want to do it or not, you're in the wrong business. I
Tom_Petty_Live says: couldn't help but do it. I would have done it if it was profitable or not. I'd still do it.

Tom_Petty_Live says: It's a pretty fast pace. People really wouldn't believe the pace of my life. It's not unusual for me to go through five states in a week or three in a day. There's many days where I'm in three states in one day. It's an unreal pace and over the years

Tom_Petty_Live says: I've gotten to the point where I thrive on that pace and don't know what to do if it stops. Every minute is pretty much planned.

Tom_Petty_Live says: Well I love to play music, so that's the two hours of the day that is really the most fun. The audience itself keeps me going, on the shows I rely on the audience to be part of the show. And the more they give, the more they're going to get.

Tom_Petty_Live says: We do plan to use some of it because it started out just as home movies for our enjoyment and she's gotten such fantastic footage, especially of sound checks where we're playing things that aren't in the show, so I'd love to put some one DVD. Tom_Petty_Live says: I don't know. On different nights I enjoy different ones. I'm really enjoying songs from the new album right now.

Tom_Petty_Live says: I feel very grateful to them, and I love them all, I really do. I feel we have the greatest fans in the world and the audiences are just amazing in every town. We don't take it for granted, and it's nice to kind of grow up together.

Tom_Petty_Live says: We have released at least one to DVD and we're going to release the shows we did at the Olympics recently. I just saw that last night and it will be coming out on DVD in the near future.

Tom_Petty_Live says: I don't know. We'll just have to take stock and see, I'd really like to go to Europe where I'm long overdue for a tour. So we'll see if there's time next summer.

Tom_Petty_Live says: Really I just try and get in the moment. There's nothing planned out, it's just what flows out of me at the moment. Tom_Petty_Live says: Actually I don't have a typical process. It's such a mysterious thing, I don't really know how it works to this day. I've written lyrics first and I've written them last, and sometimes the lyrics and music come at the same time. I've worked on a song for

Tom_Petty_Live says: The only time I listen to my own music is when I hear it on the radio. I never put it on because by the time I finish the album I've heard it SO much. When I have free time I try and pick up on other artists.
