NEW YORK, Nov. 16 -- Columbia Records will release The Concert For New York City -- a 2-CD collection documenting the historic all-star concert event held to benefit those in need affected by the World Trade Center tragedy. The Concert For New York City album will be released on Tuesday, November 27. DVD and VHS versions will be available thereafter. (Editor's note: No date has been set for video release.)

"The Concert For New York City" took place on October 20, 2001 at Madison Square Garden. Produced by VH1, Cablevision, Miramax and AOL, the concert was a celebration of the strength of New York and a thank you to the heroic firefighters, police officers and rescue workers who saved tens of thousands of lives on September 11th. More than 5,000 firefighters, police officers and rescue workers attended as guests.

"The Concert For New York City" set the record as Madison Square Garden's highest grossing event ever and VH1 scored the highest ratings in the network's history when the benefit concert aired live from 7:00pm to 12:45am (EST) on October 20.

"The Concert for New York" DVD, to be released Jan. 29, will feature four songs not on the CD, including the first of Paul's two versions of "Freedom," reports Billboard.com. Like the CD, the DVD will not contain "From a Lover to a Friend" and "Lonely Road," two other songs from "Driving Rain." The other new tracks are the Who's performance of "Behind Blue Eyes," Elton John's "I Want Love" and John's duet with Billy Joel on "Your Song." The DVD will also include the short films shown during the concert. Jeff Jacomowitz had a comment on the track listing.
