BBC Radio One transmits a brief pre-recorded interview with Paul on the show "Newsbeat".

Ringo records the narration for 26 more episodes of "Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends".
Tom Evans, former member of Badfinger, is found hanged in his home in Surrey. He was 36.

George's leather jacket from the Beatles' early years in Hamburg goes on exhibit in Liverpool.
John, Paul and George's recording of "That'll Be The Day"/"In Spite of All the Danger" is named Britain's rarest recording, valued at £200,000. The 1981 replica of the same Quarry Men recording is UK's second rarest. Only 20-25 copies were made and are worth £10,000 each. Several other Beatles records figured in the top 20. Low-numbered copies of The Beatles were said to be worth £7,000, though a copy of a mono "White Album" #0000005 sold for £19,201 in 2009.
