Да фиг знает, на самом деле)) Не написано же в словарной статье, что это nickname или вариант Lauren. Lauren - только related.

Возможно L'Wren и есть Lauren (Лорен). Что-то такое очень кельтское. Вот, например, Siobhan произносится как Шивон. С ума сойти!

Former Stones manager joins Little Steven's satellite show

Andrew Loog Oldham's new gig on Sirius Satellite Radio has given him something that producing and managing the Rolling Stones couldn't: an almost-proper job that would have pleased his mum.

"She really would have been chuffed," says Oldham, recalling a confrontation with his mother at the height of his Sixties notoriety with the Stones. "She dressed me down and said, 'When are you going to stop being silly and get a real job?' Mind you, she was probably right."

But Oldham, who helped make London swing during that era, has returned to his role as tastemaker. He's now a host on Little Steven Van Zandt's Underground Garage show on Sirius, helping spotlight raw rock & roll from the past four decades.

"Steven's got his passion, and I've got my fashion," says Oldham, now sixty-one. "It's very cool." Oldham can be heard on Sirius Channel 25 between 6 and 8 p.m. EST each weeknight, and for four hours each Saturday.

The show has an additional benefit for Oldham, who admits that after surrendering control of the Stones in 1967, he spent much of the next two decades living the self-destructive high life -- while also producing the likes of Donovan, Humble Pie and Jimmy Cliff.

"I kind of missed a lot of the Seventies and Eighties," he says, "so this is a great way of catching up." He's excited about playlist discoveries like Montreal's jangly High Dials and the naughty glam of Louis XIV.

In recent years, Oldham has become a successful author, as well. Writing his autobiography presented a goal that helped him get sober in the mid-Nineties, and the memoirs Stoned (2000) and 2Stoned (2002) recounted how he left school at sixteen to work for fashion designer Mary Quant; became a publicist who helped Brian Epstein promote the Beatles in their early days; and helmed the Stones' rise to glory.

Now he's completing On Hustling, to be published next year. Oldham's third book will spotlight some of pop's greatest impresarios -- many of them his acquaintances, including Albert Grossman, Malcolm McClaren and childhood friend Peter Meaden, a former manager of the Who. In addition, Oldham and Al Kooper recently penned the liner notes for the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese's Bob Dylan biopic, No Direction Home.

Despite his storied past, Oldham, who divides his time between Vancouver and his wife's homeland of Colombia, has no plans to dive back into production anytime soon. "If you're not in the game 24/7, you're not in the game," he says. "It's a game I used to enjoy. But I'm not twenty-three, with twenty-three-year-old ears."

Meanwhile, Oldham's old band is on tour once again. This opens him up to yet another round of Rolling Stones questions, which he professes not to mind. "Actually," he says, "I like to sound like I'm still promoting them. I know they've made a new record -- but they're not really in the record business anymore, are they? It's the road, and once they're on the road, it's theirs."

In fact, Oldham finds the Stones' continued touring inspirational. "I think it's fabulous," he says. "They remind you of your possibilities."

Jagger Denies Reports of Stones Rift Tue Oct 4

LONDON - Mick Jagger says his girlfriend, stylist L'Wren Scott, isn't trying to rehab the Rolling Stones' choice of clothing and smoking habits.

"We have not had any disagreements about clothes, smoking or L'Wren, and this is all very hurtful for her," the 62-year-old rocker said in a statement Tuesday.

He issued the statement after British newspaper reports suggested that Scott had angered band members by giving them fashion tips and urging some of them to stop smoking.

"It is completely untrue to say that L'Wren has caused a rift between myself and the rest of the band," Jagger's statement said. "This is all nonsense, everyone has their own style."

Jagger said the 38-year-old Scott "would not dream of interfering with a band who have been on the road for 40 years. In fact the band, their wives and girlfriends are all getting along extremely well."

The Rolling Stones are touring North America to promote their latest album, "A Bigger Bang."

In Jagger's statement, Jo Wood, wife of Stones guitarist Ron Wood, denied that Scott had tried to get her husband to quit smoking.

"Ronnie is the only one who can stop himself from smoking. No one can tell him to stop. Me and L'Wren went together to stop smoking in Boston three years ago," she said.

"It's ridiculous about the clothes. Ronnie has the same look which he has had forever and that's not about to change. L'Wren did give some wonderful jackets to Ronnie that I loved and I told her if she found anything else I'd love to see them," she added.

"L'Wren has got great taste, is fantastic company and is just one of the girls on tour."

WASHINGTON - The Rolling Stones' keyboardist has carved out a new role as the Bush administration's idea of the model conservationist.

Chuck Leavell took time from the Stones' "A Bigger Bang" world tour to meet Tuesday with Interior Secretary Gale Norton, a day after playing the MCI Center. He and his wife, Rose Lane, were named "Outstanding Citizen Stewards" for their tree farming near Macon, Ga.

For him, it's only forests, family and rock 'n' roll.

"Her family has been connected to the land for generations, and they have shown me the passion that they have for the love of the land, wanting to leave it in better shape than you found it. And that's really the mantra that we have," he said at a small ceremony in Norton's office. "The only other thing I can say is, This rocks!"

Norton praised the Leavells for turning the 2,000-acre Charlane Plantation that his wife inherited in 1981 into a model tree farm, and for frequent their public talks about what they do. She called their efforts an example of the "cooperative conservation" that a White House-sponsored environmental conference encouraged in August.

"Having made his land into a living textbook of stewardship, Chuck then used his platform as a prominent musician to teach, to instruct and to inspire," she said. "The two of you have created a masterpiece of words and of works."

The family tree farm raises Southern yellow pine for use in homes and paper products. It uses prescribed burns, seasonal mowing and feedlots for wildlife such as quail, deer and a black bear on the tree farm, he said.

Leavell, a Democrat from Alabama, has been a keyboard player for artists such as the Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton and George Harrison. He got his start in forestry with a correspondence course while touring with the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

He twice won the Georgia Tree Farmer of the Year Award, and in 1999 the couple was named the American Forest Foundation's National Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year. He also wrote the book, "Forever Green: The History and Hope of the American Forest."

Народ, а кто может продать фирменный СD- Bigger Bang? Кстати, а что насчёт винила, выходил ли он или вообще не выйдет? Может у кого-нибудь что-нибудь уже есть? Вы разговорились про Хельсинки, а что насчёт Варшавы или Праги? Там не будут концерты? Некоторым дешевле может обойтись польская или чешская виза чем финская.

Стоунз просто убой, несмотря на возраст они дают очень мощные и заводное выступление, народ просто воет и отплясывает в рядах как сумасшедший, драйв просто безумный вокруг меня даже молодые ребята потеряли голову. Мне кажется что они даже в лучшей форме чем три года назад. Очень жесткий саунд, как на новой пластинке без завитушек, программа состаит из быстрых убойных номеров, многие песни исполняются в малом составе, четверка + Дерил Джонс и Чак Ловел. Очень динамичное шоу далеко не все молодые способны выдержать какую программу. Это настоящее рок шоу до сих пор Стоунз пожалуй лучшая концертная группа. Очень большой контраст с Маккартни которого я видел за день до этого, там ностальгия по прошлому здесь живой организм.

Va. Rolling Stones Concert Interrupted

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Rolling Stones' concert at the University of Virginia was interrupted Thursday night while several police officers and three bomb-sniffing dogs searched the stage.

The show resumed after about a half-hour intermission. University, state and city police did not immediately return phone calls about the incident, and no announcement was made to the audience about the reason for the break.

About eight songs into the show, lead singer Mick Jagger announced that authorities had told them to take a break. The stage at the university's 61,000-seat Scott Stadium and about the first 20 rows of spectators were cleared until police finished their work.

The Rolling Stones are touring North America to promote their latest album, "A Bigger Bang."

После концерта Bill'a Wyman'a возник вопрос экспертам по Rolling Stones - Билл по своей воле покинул Rolling Stones (как он утверждает) или добровольно-принудительно?

Все-таки - сам. Об этом говорит Киф в одном из интервью (я читал его). Он раздраженно говорит о решении Билла уйти. Пришлось нанимать Дарила Джонса. Это перед туром Вуду Лаундж.
